I have to chime in here. It's a ploy to grab attention and it worked because you and others are writing about it. It's just fiction...the entertainment industry loves to take liberties with the truth. Does it undermine the public's perception of the military? I don't think so. Travel around in uniform and you'll find the public is overwhelmingly postive towards service members, this despite heinous acts committed by real servicemen (murder, rape, drugs, cheating). A kiss on TV by actors dressed as soldiers will do no harm.

It's sad that this kiss will get more press than good things like Anheuser-Busch's annual Hero Salute program, which we always take advantage of.

I guess that's why I stick to shows like Deadliest Catch and Mythbusters. No way are any of those guys kissing each other, and the only things killed are crabs and Buster.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17320325656117006734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4214849358792968501.post-14918917799159604072008-05-10T09:09:00.000-05:002008-05-10T09:09:00.000-05:00I agree with Margaret. I know there are gay ppl in the military, just like there are in the civilian workforce. I honestly don't think they CHOOSE that life, it is genetic. But I'll save that whole sermon for my blog one day...lolSusie PSUhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04647001430840050944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4214849358792968501.post-57807453006956394182008-05-09T16:49:00.000-05:002008-05-09T16:49:00.000-05:00Major Mom, you totally got it right. :-) I agree...Major Mom, you totally got it right. :-) I agree with you completely - putting the actors in uniform crossed a line for me.

P.S. A bit too detailed if you ask me. I can see how that might piss off the people attached to that particular unit.

I wonder why they chose such specifics?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4214849358792968501.post-59018710999326336212008-05-09T08:00:00.000-05:002008-05-09T08:00:00.000-05:00Eh, I'm sure there are men-and women for that matt...Eh, I'm sure there are men-and women for that matter- carrying on same sex relationships in the military as we speak. Whether or not it was cool for Grey's Anatomy to highlight such a relationship on television??? I'm not sure what I think about that. I suppose if I was in the military I might think about it more deeply, but frankly I don't really care.

There are gay people everywhere. Some of my very close friends are in same sex relationships (remember my friend you met recently, Leela from New ORleans? She gave you a hug at the temple.). I seem to be a magnet for gay men's friendships. Over 1/2 my close guy friends in Guam turned out to be gay. I just got a message yesterday from James W. that I use to play cello with at magnet school (you remember his brother? John Walker). He's gay as all get out and he wants to get together with me to play duets, lol.

I'm by no means an activist for gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgendered lifestyle, but it's something we're faced with nearly daily so I've learned to live with it. Everyone is looking for somebody to love-sometimes that somebody turns out to be the same gender. I've given up on thinking too deeply about the issue.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
